As a precaution to protect the employees and the residents of Monroe Township from the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), all Township Offices will be closed to the public, effective Monday, March 16, 2020.   Limited services will resume on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, with offices still being closed to the public.   

  • Emergency services will continue, following guidelines of Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the State of New Jersey Department of Health.
  • Trash and recycling collection will continue as scheduled.
  • Court sessions are canceled until further notice.
  • Boards and Commissions are canceled until further notice.
  • Public events are canceled until further notice. 
  • Parks and Recreation activities are canceled until further notice.

Citizens can now report minor incidents like Vandalism, Identity Theft, Lost Property, Civil Matters, Motor Vehicle Complaints and Minor Thefts online via our Citizen Services Program Website.

As some of you may already be aware, the Governor Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency on March 9, 2020 in response to the Corona Virus (COVID-19).Executive Order No. 103 declares a state of emergency and public health emergency across all 21 counties in New Jersey, allowing state agencies and departments to utilize state resources to assist affected communities responding to and recovering from COVID-19 cases.

  • Benefits from the State of Emergency.
  • Prohibits and adds safeguards to protect consumers from “price gouging”
  • Ability to waive certain procurement procedures to expedite the need for necessary resources
  • Empowers State Agencies to take appropriate steps to address COVID-19

Signs and Symptoms of COVID-19 will appear in 2 to 14 days from contact.

  • Shortness of breath
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • What can you do to protect yourself?
  • Stay home when you are sick and contact your Doctor
  • Avoid close contact with sick persons
  • Avoid touching your mouth, nose, and eyes.
  • Wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds. This is especially applies when you sneeze, cough, or blow your nose.
  • Cover your mouth when you cough and cover your nose when you sneeze.
  • USE common sense and GOOD hygiene.

REMEMBER, the prevention and practices for COVID-19 are what we should practice every day for the common cold. The links below provide additional information for everyone. We suggest that you make sure that you receive legitimate information from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or the World Health Organization (WHO). Message from the tax office! 

The due date for the May tax quarter is May 11th.  In light of the Covid 19 Pandemic the Homestead Rebate Credit is on hold and will not be applied to the May tax quarter. Payments can be mailed to our office, placed in our outside drop box in front of Town Hall, paid online thru the Township’s website, paid by phone at 866-572-9477 or paid using online banking thru your bank. (Please be advised that only the convenience fee of $1.05 for using an e-check will be credited to your next tax quarter). The fees charged for payments made by credit/debit will not be credited. All rebate forms can be mailed or placed in our outside drop box. Zoning & Construction Permit Application Process

The Zoning & Construction Offices are accepting applications during the time that the building is closed to the public, and the process is as follows:

  • All Applications for both Departments can be found on our website under “Forms & Applications”

Be sure to print the Zoning Application Checklist to be able to complete the Application properly for submittal

  • Print the applications and complete them in their entirety
  • Please be sure that any application that requires Zoning Approval, is obtained prior to sending the Construction Permit Application
  • Applications being submitted can be sent by mail or placed in the drop box at the Court side entrance on the Virginia Avenue side of the Municipal Building

RESALE & RENTAL INSPECTION PROCEDURE
DURING COVID-19 RESTRICTION PERIOD

THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING IS CURRENTLY CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC

Due to the pandemic we are only conducting Certificates of Occupancy inspections on homes and apartments that are vacant of people and furniture for a minimum of 48 hours. You may apply by downloading the resale or rental application on the township website and selecting the online forms tab. Please complete the application in its entirety and mail it to the Housing Office along with a check or money order. No cash or credit is accepted. Also on the website is a list of items that will be inspected.

Please allow at least three days after mailing to call for an inspection date. All mail is being sanitized for 24hr before being distributed to the proper departments.

All inspections are being conducted between the hours of 9am and 3pm. You can leave the door open and wait in your vehicle or return later to secure the property. No lock box will be used. PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE HOME. The inspector will leave the C/O on the kitchen counter if it passes or the violation notice if it fails.

If a re-inspection is needed please mail a copy of the violation notice along with a check or money order for $25 to the Housing Office and call at least three days after mailing to set up the re-inspection date. We are about 8 working days out for inspections.
