Mayor’s Committee on Addiction Awareness

Mission Statement

Established in 2024, the Monroe Township Mayor’s Committee on Addiction Awareness (MCAA) is dedicated to promoting education, prevention, awareness, and recovery in the fight against substance use disorders. Through community engagement, public outreach, and collaborative partnerships, MCAA strives to reduce the stigma associated with addiction, increase understanding of the dangers of opioid misuse, and connect individuals and families with resources that support prevention, treatment, and recovery. By fostering a compassionate and informed community, MCAA seeks to empower residents, strengthen public health, and improve the quality of life for all who live, work, and visit Monroe Township.

The Black Poster Project

The Black Poster Project exists to honor lives lost to any form of substance use and to transform grief into awareness, prevention, and hope.

Through hundreds of individual memorial posters, each featuring a beloved person’s face and story, the project creates a powerful visual reminder that addiction affects real families, real communities, and real lives – not statistics.
